The parts that make a run
Socket wire, bulbs, clips and plugs: the four line items behind every foot of roofline.
Christmas light supply sold as components
Every C9 roofline is built from the same handful of parts: socket wire, a bulb in each socket, a clip under each socket and a plug at each end of the run. Buying those parts separately lets an installer cut runs to the exact length of each edge and know what every foot costs. Case pricing is listed on every item and open to every buyer, with no account or application. Shipping is free on all orders, orders ship the same day, and there are no added fees.
Socket wire
C9 socket wire is flat two-conductor wire with E17 sockets molded in at a fixed spacing. 1,000 ft. spools come in 12 in., 15 in. and 24 in. spacing, and a magnetic socket spool covers metal surfaces. Replacement sockets repair a damaged socket without cutting a run apart. Blank SPT-2 zip cord and SPT-1 lamp cord carry power from the outlet to the first socket.
Bulbs
LED C9 bulbs fit the E17 intermediate base and are sold in 25-packs and 500-bulb cases. One bulb fills one socket, so the bulb count is the socket count. The 25-pack covers re-lamps and color changes; the case covers new runs.
Clips and mounting
Clips are the part most often under-ordered. O-clips and all-in-one clips cover gutters and shingles, ridge clips straddle peaks, magnet clips hold to steel, shingle tabs slide under shingles and 8 in. stakes place bulbs along walks and beds. Order one per socket plus a margin for breakage.
Plugs and power
Slide-on male and female plugs finish each cut run without stripping wire. A run needs one male plug at the power end and one female plug at the far end. Packs of 50 cover a few jobs; 1,000-count cases cover a season of cutting. Photocell timers switch each circuit on at dusk.
Kit or components
C9 installation kits bundle wire, bulbs, plugs and clips sized to 250, 500, 1,000, 2,000 or 4,000 ft. They're simpler to order for one building. Components cost less per foot over long runs, leave spare plugs and clips, and let each run be cut to the edge it goes on. The table below prices a 1,000 ft. run from bulk parts next to the matching kit using current catalog prices.
Mini lights as components
LED mini strands are priced per strand: a single 50-light strand or a 24-strand case, at 4 in. or 6 in. spacing. Strands connect end to end, so the cost of a tree wrap is the strand price times the strand count. A medium wrap uses about two strands per foot of tree height, which makes the per-foot cost of a wrapped tree easy to work out from the case price.

Build a 1,000 ft. C9 run from bulk parts
| Part | Qty | Each | Line total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 ft. C9 socket spool, 12 in. spacing | 1 | $275 | $275 |
| C9 LED bulbs, 500/case | 2 | $319 | $638 |

| Male plugs, 50/pack | 1 | $37.99 | $37.99 |
| Female plugs, 50/pack | 1 | $37.99 | $37.99 |
| Total, 1,000 ft. at 12 in. spacing | $1,216.98 ($1.22/ft.) |
The equivalent 1,000 ft. 12 in. installation kit is $1,605.10. Buying the parts separately runs $388.12 less and leaves spare plugs; the kit puts everything in one line item with a choice of bulb colors and patterns.
What a foot of C9 roofline costs, part by part
A finished C9 run has four cost lines: the socket wire, the bulbs in the sockets, the clips that hold it up and the plugs at each end. The first three scale with footage. Plugs scale with the number of runs. Pricing a job from components means knowing each of those figures at case quantity, which this guide calculates from the current catalog.
Socket wire
A 1,000 ft. C9 socket spool at 12 in. spacing is $275, or $0.275 per foot. The spacing of the spool sets how many sockets, and so how many bulbs and clips, land on every foot. Spools at 15 in. and 24 in. spacing are priced on their own listings.
Bulbs
LED C9 bulbs are $0.798 each in a 25-pack and $0.638 each in a 500-bulb case. At 12 in. spacing there's one bulb per foot. At 15 in., 0.8 per foot. At 24 in., 0.5 per foot. The bulb is usually the largest single line in a run.
Clips
C9 O-clips are $0.228 each by the 1,000-count case. All-in-one clips, which fit both shingles and gutters, are $0.183 each by the 3,000-count case. One clip per socket, so the clip count follows the bulb count.
Plugs
Male plugs are $0.699 each by the 1,000-count case, and a run needs a male and a female plug, about $1.40 per run for the pair at the male case price. On short runs the plugs are a noticeable share of the cost; on a 200 ft. run they're close to nothing.
Cost per foot at case prices
| Spacing | Sockets per ft. | Wire | Bulbs | Clips | Per foot |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 in. | 1 | $0.275 | $0.638 | $0.228 | $1.14 |
| 15 in. | 0.8 | $0.275 | $0.510 | $0.182 | $0.968 |
The wire figure uses the 12 in. spool price for both rows; check the 15 in. spool listing for its own price. Clip figures use O-clips. Add plugs per run on top.
Pricing a job from the table
Multiply the per-foot figure by the measured footage, then add a plug pair for each run. A 240 ft. roofline cut into six runs at 12 in. spacing is 240 times the 12 in. figure plus six plug pairs. Add about 5% to the clip count for breakage and corners, and keep the cut-off wire for patching.
Parts that sit outside the per-foot cost
- Light stakes: $0.800 each by the 250-count case, one per socket on walkway and bed runs in place of clips.
- Photocell timers: $11 each, one per circuit, not per run.
- Lamp cord and zip cord: priced by the roll, used for leads from the outlet to the first socket.
- Replacement sockets: a 10-pack repairs damaged sockets without replacing the run.
Components against a kit
A 1,000 ft. run built from a spool, two bulb cases, a clip case and plug packs comes to $1,216.98, or $1.22 per foot. The matching 1,000 ft. 12 in. installation kit is $1,605.10. The parts build leaves spare clips and plugs; the kit puts everything in one order with a choice of bulb color patterns.
Questions
Do I need an account to get case pricing?
No. Case prices are listed on every product and apply to anyone who orders a case. There's no account, application or pricing tier.
What does one foot of C9 roofline cost in parts?
Add the socket wire cost per foot, the bulb cost times the sockets per foot (1 at 12 in. spacing, 0.8 at 15 in., 0.5 at 24 in.) and the clip cost times the same number. Plugs are added per run. The guide on this page works it out from current case prices.
What's the difference between SPT-1 and SPT-2 wire?
Both are flat two-conductor cord. SPT-2 has thicker insulation and is the heavier of the two; SPT-1 is lighter and more flexible. Use the plug type made for the wire you're cutting.
Which part should I order extra of?
Clips and plugs. Clips break and get dropped, and every re-cut uses a new plug. A spare case of each prevents a second order mid-job.
Can I buy replacement sockets?
Yes. C9 replacement sockets come in 10-packs for repairing a damaged socket on an existing run.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is free on all orders to the contiguous United States, with no order minimum.
How many bulbs do I need for a roofline?
Convert the run length to inches and divide by the socket spacing. A 100 ft. roofline is 1,200 in.; at 12 in. spacing that's 100 sockets and 100 bulbs, and at 15 in. spacing it's 80.
What's in a C9 installation kit?
Kits combine C9 socket wire at the listed length and spacing with LED C9 bulbs to fill the sockets, slide-on plugs to finish the runs and clips to mount them. The options list on each kit shows the bulb colors and clip mix available.
Which clip do I need?
All-in-one clips fit shingles and gutters. Ridge clips mount along roof peaks. Tile and extended fascia clips are for tile roofs and deep fascia boards. Magnet clips hold to metal surfaces, and light stakes place C9 or C7 bulbs along walkways and beds.
What are sun warm, warm, pure and cool white?
They describe color temperature. Sun warm white (about 2600–2800K) is the most amber, closest to incandescent. Warm white (about 2800–3200K) is the traditional soft white. Pure white (about 4000–4200K) is neutral, and cool white (5900K and up) has a blue tint.
Can I return items I don't use?
Yes. Unused, uninstalled product in its original, intact packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Request the return before shipping anything back.
